Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Gear Ratio Tools at https://gearratiotools.com (the "Site"), operated by Zhou Shaoqing, an individual based in mainland China (the "Operator," "we," "us," or "our"). By using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.

Zhou Shaoqing is the Hanyu Pinyin romanization used in these English-language Terms to identify the Operator. It is not presented as an official English legal name or a separate legal alias.

1. The Site

The Site provides a free, browser-based automotive drivetrain calculator. It uses numerical values you enter to produce theoretical estimates for gear ratios, engine RPM, vehicle speed, tire revolutions, and crawl ratio. The approved launch version does not provide accounts, cloud storage, uploads, paid services, advertising, affiliate offers, or vehicle and parts databases.

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue all or part of the Site. We do not promise that the Site will always be available, remain free, or retain any particular feature.

2. Informational Use Only

The Site performs mathematical calculations. It does not provide automotive, mechanical, engineering, safety, legal, repair, installation, fitment, purchasing, or other professional advice. It does not determine whether a configuration is safe, suitable, street legal, compatible with a particular vehicle, approved by a manufacturer, or preferable to another configuration.

Review the separate Disclaimer before relying on any result. Before purchasing or installing parts, modifying a vehicle, or operating a vehicle based on a calculation, verify all specifications with the applicable manufacturer and a qualified professional. Do not test theoretical top-speed, RPM, or drivetrain results on public roads.

3. Your Inputs and Results

You are responsible for the accuracy, completeness, units, and suitability of all values you enter. Calculator inputs and results are processed locally in your browser under the approved launch behavior.

The approved launch version does not create or restore calculator state through a URL. Do not enter personal information, VINs, vehicle identity, or confidential information into the calculator fields.

4. Permitted Use

We grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to access and use the Site for lawful personal, educational, or internal business evaluation, subject to these Terms.

You may copy a calculator result for lawful discussion or recordkeeping, provided that you do not remove the theoretical-estimate notice, misrepresent the result as measured or certified, or imply our endorsement.

5. Prohibited Use

You may not:

  • use the Site in violation of applicable law or the rights of others;
  • attempt to bypass, disable, disrupt, overload, or interfere with the Site or its security;
  • introduce malicious code, automate abusive requests, or probe for vulnerabilities without prior written authorization;
  • use a result to claim that a vehicle, part, setup, speed, or operating condition is safe, certified, manufacturer-approved, street legal, or guaranteed by us;
  • remove or obscure legal notices included with copied results;
  • impersonate us or falsely suggest sponsorship, affiliation, certification, or endorsement; or
  • copy, frame, or redistribute substantial portions of the Site in a way that infringes our or another party's rights.

6. Intellectual Property

The Site's original software, text, visual presentation, and branding are owned by the Operator or used under permission and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. These Terms do not transfer ownership to you.

Mathematical facts and formulas may not themselves be protected in the same way as original expression. Nothing in these Terms gives you rights to our branding, original explanatory text, interface, or software beyond the limited use right above.

If you believe material on the Site infringes your rights, contact support@gearratiotools.com and identify the work, the material at issue, its location, your contact information, and the basis for your request.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

The Site may rely on a hosting or content-delivery provider to serve the pages and an email provider to receive messages. If the Site later links to third-party sites, those services are governed by their own terms and policies. A link does not imply our endorsement, and we are not responsible for third-party content, availability, products, or practices.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SITE AND ALL RESULTS ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." WE DISCLAIM ALL EXPRESS AND IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, RELIABILITY, MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND THAT THE SITE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE.

We do not warrant that any result matches an actual vehicle, tire, drivetrain, instrument, road, or operating condition. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so some exclusions may not apply to you.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE OPERATOR AND THE OPERATOR'S SERVICE PROVIDERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOSS OF USE, DATA, PROFITS, REVENUE, BUSINESS, OR PROPERTY, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SITE OR ANY RESULT, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR VEHICLE OR PROPERTY DAMAGE, PERSONAL INJURY, FINES, FAILED FITMENT, PARTS PURCHASES, INSTALLATION COSTS, OR OPERATING DECISIONS RESULTING FROM USE OF A THEORETICAL CALCULATION. These limits do not exclude liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

10. Enforcement and Termination

We may restrict or terminate access when we reasonably believe use violates these Terms, threatens the Site or others, or creates legal or security risk. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including intellectual-property, warranty, liability, and governing-law provisions.

11. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms and disputes arising from them are governed by the laws of the People's Republic of China, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. A dispute may be brought before a court that has competent jurisdiction under applicable law. We do not designate a United States state or an exclusive local court that has not been verified as an enforceable forum.

Nothing in these Terms deprives you of mandatory consumer, privacy, or other rights that cannot lawfully be waived under the law applicable to you. This clause is based on the Operator's mainland-China domicile; it is not a representation that every court will enforce the clause in the same way.

12. International Access

The Site's primary product audience is English-speaking users in the United States, but the Site may be accessible from other countries. Accessibility does not mean that the Site is localized for, actively offered in, or represented as legally compliant with every jurisdiction. We do not claim that use of the Site is lawful or appropriate in every location.

You are responsible for complying with laws that apply to your use. This section does not exclude mandatory consumer, privacy, or other rights that cannot lawfully be waived.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms when the Site, law, or our practices change. We will post the revised Terms on this page and update the effective date. Your continued use after the effective date of revised Terms means you accept them to the extent permitted by law.

14. Severability and Entire Agreement

If a provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, it will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted and the remaining provisions will remain in effect. These Terms, the Privacy Policy, and the Disclaimer form the agreement concerning your use of the Site, except where additional written terms expressly apply.
